Just wanted to get a feel for who is using the OTG-Y cable and why they're using it. My WN722N works fine with an unpowered cable. If people are having trouble I can write up what I am doing to get it to work with an unpowered OTG. |

ive had mixed results. i have noticed that sometimes it helps to test out with a external mouse. plug the mouse in, if the optical light turns on, then try using your tplink. i have the cheap otg cable too, i also have 2 different y cables. on some kernels, my mouse wont turn on using just the otg cable, but if i plug it into the y cable without having a power source, it works. sometimes you have to plug only the otg cable in, and then plug the tp link in. i have had less luck with 036h, and i believe thats becuase the 036h takes more power? anyways, what works for someone with one perticular setup (n7 model + rom + kernel + kalipwn version) might not work for another. best just to keep testing, the more you stick with it the better your grasp of whats going on. |

I finally got it. To make the adapter to work without an external power uncheck the usb otg + charge mode on the kernel. Just reecheck it when you want to use an external power, otherwise your nexus 7 will not charge. Tested this on elkitkatflo 2.2 kernel, gonna test it on the new one later. |
