Hi everyone, I'm hoping for some advise and good discussions here - this is my first post on this board :). I installed the 2014 image on my 2013 Nexus 7 tablet and it's mostly working great so far. The only drawback I get that I'm working on is battery time - I get about 4.5 hours use without an adapter plugged in and while being memory use conservative. Haven't been able to pin down the cause but 'AndroidOS' is draining the battery more than anything. Since I'm on a wifi-only tablet I'm wondering if there's some process running that is continually trying to check for or establish 3G/data connection that may be causing it? I can't find any wakelock issues. Any advise is greatly appreciated Thanks! Update: OK so no replies yet - I hope someone can help me out with some advise. I've done everything possible for battery management, e.g. disabling service apps and running battery optimization apps but still get only ~5 hours use with minimum display brightness and without an adapter plugged in. Idle time is fine, but when in use "AndroidOS" is still the #1 battery thief. I'm on Pwnpad 2014 (Pwnie_Express version) with Android 4.3.1...could this be a hardware issue? You should concider using kalipwn instead of pwnpad. or try flashing a better kernel. if you dont feel adventurous, try looking up battery optimizing apps in the playstore. |

I recommend restarting the device, then stop all unnecessary applications running in the background. I also recommend disabling the use of Location Services, which when disabled will prevent the periodic attempts made by various applications that will attempt to leverage this feature. |
