droidshadow mentioned on XDA that we could use the internal WiFi on this Nexus 7 (2013) in monitor mode instead of using an external WiFi device. I am still learning about this stuff and am a somewhat newbie to switching stuff around with Linux. I purchased my Nexus 7 with the intent of making a hacking platform out of it for school and for learning on. I haven't purchased any USB wifi devices yet or anything and I am wondering about two different things. How do I go about putting my internal WiFi into the proper mode for hacking? (Monitor mode) and what do I need to look for to change to using the internal wifi instead of an external usb wifi? I understand the internal wifi to be wlan0 and any usb connected wifi to start at wlan1. Also could I actually install a usb wired lan connector to this pad and make that work as well? Thanks! You can't use the internal for this! That's why all of us use external WiFi via usb

Pretty sure the internal wireless chip-set does not support wireless injection. You also cannot perform any sort of legit mitm attack without 2 interfaces. |

There was some hackery for the firmware on the Nexus 7 2012 (google bcmon) but the 2013 edition uses a different type of modem. |

Hi, has any more progress been made on using the internal card of the 2013 model or am I safer getting the 2012? Could someone post the lsusb or similar output which lists the type of wifi card please |

Getting 2012 is better for you.2013 has better performance. So why not get a better tablet. The tablet's ant has just few dbi.Not suitable for hacking. |

Have not tested it with monotor mode or packet injection yet but the bcmon kernel modules do load on the flo, and "normal" wifi functions work, as soon as its tested i will declare it working, the modules are integrated into the init.d in Fenris http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577356 |
